I originally trained in Fashion in the early 1980s, where I discovered a passion for costume and have been lucky enough to work in theatre, TV and film ever since. I believe that the best costume design is grounded in an understanding of how materials work. My many years of costume making and tailoring, as well as wardrobe supervision, enable me to bring this to the design process. As a freelance costume designer, I am based in Liverpool, UK, but travel all over the world. In recent years, I have been able to extend my repertoire into set design.
My recent work includes the multi award wining, Shockheaded Peter, A Funny Thing On The Way To The Forum. (Royal National Theatre), The Magic Flute (Welsh National Opera), Satyagraha (English National Opera and Metropolitan Opera), Tmesis, Momento Mori, Anima & The Dreadful Hours (Tmesis Theatre company), L'amour De Loin (English National Opera, Vlaamse Opera and Canadian Opera Company), The Pearl Fishers, (English National Opera), M'enage a' Trois (National Theatre of Scotland) Danny Champion of the World, Top of the World & Beasts and Beauties (Spike Theatre) and Enchanted Island (Metropolitan Opera).
